Galicia strengthens its litigation team with the appointment of Paola Yaber as partner

Galicia has announced the appointment of Paola Yaber as a partner in the firm’s Tax Litigation practice with effect from 1 January 2024.

The addition of Paola confirms the firm’s commitment to strengthening the Tax Litigation practice group to meet the needs of its clients and expand its strategic service capabilities.

Paola is currently a member of the Latin American Network of Women in Procedural Law and Evidence. She is a lawyer with a degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and has enriched her education with a significant number of advanced studies both in Mexico and abroad.

She holds a PhD in Administration and Management of the Judiciary from the Institute of Judicial Studies of the Supreme Court of the then Federal District and the Institute of Legal Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Her international focus is reflected in her postgraduate studies in Italy and Spain, as well as her participation in the Management Program for Lawyers at the Yale School of Management.

Prior to joining Galicia, Paola had a distinguished experience at the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice, and she worked in a prestigious law firm specialising in tax matters.

For 11 years, she was the secretary and coordinator of the Ponencias de Ministros de la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación.

During this time, she acquired a broad knowledge of the Mexican legal system, which allowed her to serve for 8 years as a Judge of the Fourteenth Metropolitan Regional Chamber of the Federal Administrative Court, where she presided over numerous tax and administrative cases, setting important precedents.

During her time at the Court, she was a member of the Commission for Gender Equality, focusing on the implementation of policies on sexual harassment, harassment at work, equality in the workplace and non-discrimination.
